Johannesburg | You have to not like music period to be bored in South Africa. Johannesburg boasts a scene for everyone. The Jozi music offerings include indie, rock, afro jazz, soul and even screamo.
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago | This is the go-to place to celebrate Carnival, but the party continues year-round. You’ll find the population dancing the Dutty Whine to calypso style soca music. Come for the competition where groups battle to be the Soca Monarch.
San Juan, Puerto Rico | San Juan presents great diversity with its live music, from Latin rhythms to jazz. Visit during the last Sunday of the month and check out Ventana al Jazz Festival, a free concert held outdoors.
Barcelona | The renowned nightlife continues until sunrise, an attitude that draws people from around the world for events like the progressive music Sónar Festival. Barcelona’s a hub for electro-style club tunes, but traditional music can be found.
Santiago, Chile | Soak in the rich culture of Chile’s musica en vivo, or live music. There’s no shortage of venues in Chile’s capital playing traditional rhythmic cumbia drum beats, or with a modern-day techno twist on it.
London | Rock out to your favorite famous band. London is almost always a stop for tours. If you’re not a fan of screaming crowds though, the Shoreditch borough has low-key venues where you’ll be up front and center.
