A Long Weekend in Boston Done Right
Boston is something special. Beacon Hill is the stuff dreams are made of. Everywhere you turn, you're touching a piece of American history. Fenway Park will bring out your inner fangirl. Even the sidewalks are charming.
After a summer of intense traveling, planning and hosting, I was in need of a vacation that was truly that - relaxing and reinvigorating. My 26th birthday was over the Labor Day weekend, and I wanted to bring in the year with a refreshed attitude. Boston was perfect for that. It's exciting without being overwhelming, an unpretentious city that welcomes you in.
Back Bay was the ideal location to lay our heads. With a panoramic view of the Boston Public Library and Trinity Church, we woke up every morning happy to swing open the curtains. A farmers market across the street in Copley Square had us feeling like locals as we looked at handmade goods and fresh produce.
We strolled on our own schedule, something I'm not used to doing - even on vacation. And you know what? It all came together perfectly - a lesson I should take to heart. Fenway Park and the Green Monstah cast an impressive shadow over our awed faces. The Freedom Trail literally took us through time. We paid our respects at the graves of Paul Revere and Sam Adams. And we toasted to America at the Green Dragon Tavern...and at Hennessy's...and at Beantown Pub.
There aren't many places I would visit more than once, but Boston is on that list.
What's the one city you would visit over and over again?
